Promote Digestion
This group of herbs is used to treat various symptoms related to indigestion, such as swelling of the stomach, abdominal swelling, belching, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and poor appetite. Typically, these symptoms must be due to indigestion for this group of herbs to be effective. Chinese hawthorn is an herb in this group.
At times, it may be necessary to combine this group of herbs with the group of herbs for regulating energy (group 11), as indigestion and poor energy circulation are often linked. If the herbs for promoting digestion do not work, it may be necessary to use herbs to induce bowel movements temporarily. However, it is important to note that both the herbs for promoting digestion and the herbs for inducing bowel movements (group 8) should only be used temporarily, as neither of them will contribute to the long-term health of the patient.
