Lip Disorders

Lip wind is a condition in which the lips become red, swollen, and blistering. This can happen due to a variety of reasons, including exposure to external pathogens, the consumption of heating items in the diet, or stress and qi constraint. In Chinese medicine, the lips are considered part of the Spleen organ system and reflect the integrity of the Spleen and the volume and quality of blood. When the Spleen is weak or when blood is deficient, the lips are more likely to be damaged. In such cases, exposure to external factors can trigger an episode of lip wind.
