Bile Reflux
Bile reflux is a condition where bile, a digestive fluid produced by the liver, flows back up into the stomach and esophagus. This can cause symptoms such as a bitter taste in the mouth, nausea, vomiting, burning or gnawing upper abdominal pain, and indigestion. In Chinese medicine, bile reflux is thought to be caused by disrupted qi dynamics in the stomach and liver. Standard treatments for acid reflux, such as antacids and proton pump inhibitors, may not be effective in treating bile reflux.
